Winemaker’s Note: The term Super Tuscan was coined in the early 1980s to describe a red blend from Tuscany. What makes “Super Tuscan” wine different from other Tuscan wines (like Chianti) is the use of wine grapes that are not indigenous to Italy. The creation of super Tuscan wines resulted from
the frustration winemakers had towards a slow bureaucracy in changing Italy’s wine law during
the 1970s. Winemakers began mixing ‘unsanctioned’ wine varieties (like Merlot) into their
blends to make high-quality wines.
On the nose: This wine shows off a warm and inviting nose of dark fruit, blackberries and black cherry married with elements of leather, charcoal and smoked sausage. Let this wine give your
nose a hug.
On the palate: You will be greeted pleasant old-world acidity, elegantly balanced with savory and soft tannins. As it opens up, it starts to really show off medium body with notes of bright fresh cherries and pomegranate leading to classic Tuscan flavors of roasted tomato, oregano and espresso leading
to a clean yet rustic finish. Feels like being invited into the home of a friendly Italian family with you sit in the living room and the grandmother cooks spaghetti bolognese.
Food pairing ideas: This blend is a versatile wine that works equally well before, during and after a meal. What sort of meal? May we suggest some classic spaghetti bolognese, roasted tomato bruschetta, mushroom risotto or maple and soy roasted root vegetables. A perfect accompaniment to a cozy night-in after a cool autumn day lounging in your favorite leather chair listening to Fleet
Foxes’s Helplessness Blues and, before you know it, the bottle is gone!

Why Sangiovese?
Italy’s most planted wine variety and the pride of the Tuscan regional wine, Chianti. Sangiovese is a sensitive grape that takes on different stylistic expressions based on where it grows. Sangiovese is savory. Because of its ability to be a chameleon, Sangiovese wines offer a wide range of tastes from very earthy and rustic to round and fruit-forward.
